David M. Bagley has assisted numerous companies in transition, achieving successful outcomes for financially distressed and underperforming companies as a consultant, interim manager and financial advisor.
At Roman, Inc., a religious giftware distributor, David helped a company that was liquidating become the Turnaround Management Association Chicago Chapter "Medium Turnaround of the Year" and receive the National "Mid-Sized Turnaround of the Year" Honorable Mention. Working closely with company management, he helped identify profitable business units, resize and restructure the organization, and reduce inventory and stock-keeping units. Implementation of the business plan turned a $66-million-company losing over $3 million annually to a $40-million-company making $2 million annually.
As CEO of a $50 million national fundraising company, David restructured the company, saving over $4 million annually. Careful analysis showed profit opportunities in headcount reductions, compensation changes, improved inventory management, modifications to customer pricing structures, and the implementation of operational improvements in key business segments. As part of the turnaround plan, a retail sales channel was planned, developed and started from scratch.
As CFO of a $100 million national restaurant chain, David negotiated over $5 million in short-term financing to facilitate the build-out of 25 locations over 18 months. The growth strategy saw revenues increase 87 percent year-over-year.
As the Chief Restructuring Officer for a $100 million environmental remediation construction firm, David helped the company manage cash and liquidity, as well as lender communications, and negotiated two forbearance agreements.
As Financial Advisor to Boot Town, a multistore retail chain that specializes in western wear, David managed cash, lender communications and bankruptcy reporting. He also facilitated the preparation of the reorganization plan and testified on behalf of the debtor on a variety of valuation issues.
As a financial consultant, he has served a variety of industries, including manufacturing, hospitality, transportation, distribution, wholesale and multistore retail, catalog mail-order, finance, computer technology and software. He has consulted with companies that range in size from $25 million to more than $1.6 billion.
Before joining MorrisAnderson, David ran the $30 million international division for a large national hardware distributor, started a Midwest regional logistics program for an international freight forwarder and brokerage firm, and consulted Fortune 500 firms on technology-based new business plans.
David is a Certified Turnaround Professional (CTP). He earned a master's degree in business administration from the J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and a bachelor's degree from DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind. Dave lives in Wheaton, Ill., with his wife and three children, and their dog, Murphy.
