John
Battaglia brings to Morris-Anderson & Associates an expertise in all aspects of commercial lending, from originations and workouts to financial restructurings. Most recently, he served as senior vice president and chief restructuring officer of GMAC Commercial Credit Corp., where he led a team of professionals that resolved problem loans totaling more than $1 billion. With more than 35 years experience, John has led restructurings and workouts in virtually every industrial sector including construction and building products, capital equipment, transportation, apparel and textile, manufacturing, retail, wholesale distribution, leisure, franchising, and healthcare.
Prior to his work at GMAC, John was Senior Vice President, Administration and Credit Risk, at Summit Bank, which was acquired by Fleet Bank, then Bank of America. In addition to his other duties, he was responsible for developing and then implementing the credit evaluation, compliance and administration policies and procedures for all secured lending transactions for the bank and its predecessor institutions. Prior to his work at Summit, he was the senior vice president in charge of lending at United Jersey Bank. John also served as the president of Franklin Commercial Corp; he began his career in finance with James Talcott, Inc. In these various positions, John has direct, hands-on experience with business evaluations and due diligence, acquisition identification and financing, merger integration, operational and financial restructuring, bankruptcy and liquidation management.
John, who is an active member of TMA and ACG, received his Bachelor’s in accounting and law at Seton Hall, completed the Harvard Business School Senior Management Program, and is a CPA. John is headquartered in the firm’s New York office. |
