James Wener
has more than 25 years of experience in serving the
healthcare, manufacturing and distribution, and public-transit
industries as both a Partner-in-Charge of Management
Consulting for a middle-sized accounting firm and as
an independent consultant.
He has worked with software companies
of various sizes in assessing and improving their financial
and operating strength and preparing to be acquired.
In assisting software projects and companies in trouble,
he has functioned as the COO of an underperforming software
company to turn around their financial condition; directed
the short-term development of the mission-critical software
system, which enabled the company to radically reduce
operating staff and become profitable; worked with investors
in performing their due diligence of software firms
in advance of placing invested capital; and assessed
a troubled distribution companys software installation
and managed a critical 90-day reversion to prior software,
enabling the company to function and improve cash flow.
Mr. Wener has focused on assisting many
healthcare organizations in developing and implementing
the most effective systems strategies. He has worked
successfully with medium and large managed-care organizations,
providers and other healthcare stakeholders in understanding
and planning for complying with the new federal HIPAA
regulations; assisting many healthcare organizations
in defining their information requirements, selecting
appropriate systems, developing appropriate systems
and operational budgets, and planning for and managing
the implementation of those systems; and representing
a wide variety of large and small healthcare organizations
taking various levels of managed-care risk, such as
HMOs, IPAs, PHOs and PPOs or organizations processing
healthcare transactions, such as Hospitals and Medical
Centers, IPAs and clinical facilities.
Mr. Wener holds a Bachelors degree
in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and
an MBA from Loyola University in Chicago.
