Jason Paru has more than six years of experience in corporate turnaround management and restructuring services, private equity investing, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate finance. He has been an adviser to distressed and under-performing companies, private equity investors, lenders, and other creditors in out-of-court restructurings and bankruptcy proceedings, as well as debt restructurings and financings, liquidity management, cost containment/operational initiatives, §363 asset sales, business plan and strategic analyses, valuation analyses, litigation support, private equity investing, and mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. Paru’s restructuring experience with distressed and underperforming companies includes advising a $200 million manufacturer and distributor of food service equipment and supplies in a debt restructuring, liquidity management, and strategic planning initiative. He also performed a business plan assessment for a $190 million snack foods manufacturer and distributor, and advised the senior secured lenders of an $85 million pharmaceutical manufacturer on operational and financial restructuring initiatives, cash-flow forecasting, and business valuation.
Representative engagements in Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases and §363 asset sales include advising the Informal Committee of Secured Trade Vendors in the Musicland Group, Inc. bankruptcy and advising the secured lenders in the Best Manufacturing Group, LLC bankruptcy.
Mr. Paru’s professional experience has included four years specializing in private equity investing, with a focus on leveraged buyouts, recapitalization, and growth equity investments across a wide range of industries. He has worked in the manufacturing, consumer products, business services, distribution, retail, telecommunications, textiles, and pharmaceuticals industries.
Prior to joining Morris Anderson, Mr. Paru was a vice president with the turnaround and restructuring practice of Mesirow Financial Consulting. He previously worked with Scouler Andrews, LLC, a Chicago-based restructuring and turnaround services firm. He began his career with Lehman Brothers, Inc. in the firm’s Merchant Banking Group, followed by several years with Lake Capital, a middle-market private equity firm investing in service-based companies.
Mr. Paru received his MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Northwestern University. He is a member of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) and the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors (AIRA). |
